The MOUs virtually never reflect the letter and intent of the law that created this once serious effort toward cultural property preservation. It has, over time, become a perverted sham of special interests——not exactly rare in Washington. All CPAC is about these days is feathering the nest of academia, and specifically archaeology, with a "nothing to lose" attitude from State Department diplomats who support it. Who can argue with an EXPERT from a big name institution? Or, the "Fake News Media" or even worse, with a job-secure bureaucrat? Worse yet, with a marriage between the three?? How about simply following the law that governs this issue??? How about appointing, as committee members, genuine and sincere representatives from the areas that Congress specified? How about demanding that the interests protected by law are fairly considered? No, lets all just take a nap.Wayne G. Sayleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02443529723963083983noreply@blogger.com
