As for Cyprus itself, its not all that friendly to the US-- recall the recent incident where they let a Russian spy wanted in the US slip through their fingers. And though the division of the Island is a sad thing, most observers point to Greek Cypriot intransigence as the reason there has been no settlement.

Finally, all this does not change the fact that the State Department bureaucracy is supposed to follow the law in applying these restrictions and it is still possible their failure to do so will be their undoing.Cultural Property Observerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05924359202414555962noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3279887958085077691.post-53725385920438239622011-12-10T11:52:47.456-08:002011-12-10T11:52:47.456-08:00if it is founded on cronyism than god help the coi...if it is founded on cronyism than god help the coin collectors.with an estimated $7trillion worth of oil and gas found off the coast of cyprus and everyone wanting a piece of the action,i guess it will be them playing the tune from now on.just for the record i am against mous for any coins from any country but when it comes to antiquities and other cultural goods i have the opposite opinion.cyprus has been raped of its heritage ,especially since 1974 and the cypriots have every right to try anything they can to try and stop it.
kyri.
ps,with half the country illegally ocupied by the turks,im sure all this lobbying on capitol hill had very little,if anything to do with mous, cyprus has much larger problems than that.kyrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12725342826698223232noreply@blogger.com
