Tom Mashberg, reporting for the NY Times, has written an article about the
considerations that go into deciding whether to repatriate an object voluntarily. Museum trustees have fiduciary duties to protect their collections from unmeritorious claims. So, it's not surprising that repatriation decisions must be made based on the facts of each individual case, not some "politically correct" universal rule as some in the archaeological blogosphere have maintained.
