This article
examines obsessive compulsive hoarding behavior in archaeology. Admittedly, collectors are sometimes accused of the same thing, but a hoarding mentality amongst archaeologists has made rational proposals for deaccession of duplicates a non-starter. Funds generated by sales of such duplicates would be better spent supporting archaeological efforts in places like Greece, Italy and Cyprus.
