Colossal Waste of Money or What Greece Needs Now?
A group of young Greek professionals have proposed rebuilding the Colossus of Rhodes with its hefty pricetag being paid for with a mix of money from foundations and crowdsourcing. At a time Greece's real cultural heritage is suffering from a severe spending cuts, CPO's initial reaction was that this would seem to be a colossal waste of money. However, on further reflection, if such a project could be realized with private as opposed to public money, it could bring good jobs. And, if done well, the Colossus could help make the glories of the past more relevant to the dispirited youth of present-day Greece.
